Escaping the Heat: A Stay at Juvet Landscape Hotel in Norway

As temperatures rise in the summer months, escaping to a place where nature takes centre stage can be a refreshing alternative. Norway’s landscapes offer a perfect retreat from the heat, with cool mountain air, pristine rivers, and dense forests that invite tranquillity. Among these, Juvet Landscape Hotel stands out as a destination that seamlessly blends modern design with untouched wilderness, making it an ideal getaway for those seeking solitude and inspiration this spring and summer.

Juvet Landscape Hotel: Where Architecture Meets Wilderness

Juvet is more than just a hotel, it’s an experience. Tucked away in the remote forests of Valldal, this landscape hotel invites you to embrace solitude while feeling deeply connected to nature. The minimalist glass cabins are strategically placed to provide uninterrupted views of the surrounding forests, rivers, and mountains. It’s a place where time slows down, and every detail, from the scent of pine to the soothing sound of flowing water, becomes part of the journey.

Travelling with Purpose

Juvet is not just a place to stay; it is designed to deepen our connection with nature. In a world that moves fast, this retreat offers a moment to pause, reflect, and be present. For travellers seeking experiences that leave a lasting impression, Juvet is a destination that truly redefines luxury.

There’s a quiet magic to places like Juvet, where architecture disappears into the landscape, and the stillness is almost cinematic. Here’s a short video we captured during our stay.

What to Do Around Juvet Landscape Hotel

If you're planning a stay at Juvet for at least two nights (which I highly recommend), here are some activities to immerse yourself in the surrounding nature and culture:

Relax in the Bath House
A serene spa built seamlessly into the riverbank, the Bath House offers a tranquil space with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water. It's just a few steps from the farmyard and doesn't require a reservation—perfect for spontaneous relaxation.

Hike to Nysætra and Ruggå
Embark on a guided family-friendly hike starting from Hauge parking. This 4 km round trip offers panoramic views over the fjords and a glimpse into Norway's cultural landscape.

Explore Mount Mefjellet via Nysætra
For a more challenging adventure, tackle the 5.4-mile trail to Mount Mefjellet. This route is known for its breathtaking vistas and takes approximately 4 hours to complete.

Drive the Scenic Routes
Take a drive to the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord and the dramatic Trollstigen mountain road. Both are less than an hour away and offer some of Norway's most iconic landscapes.

Visit Valldal
A short drive from Juvet, Valldal is known for its delicious strawberries in the summer. It's a charming spot for a leisurely lunch or coffee.

Kayak in Tafjord
Experience the serene waters of Tafjord by kayak. This less-traveled fjord offers a peaceful alternative to the more crowded Geirangerfjord.

Embrace Stillness
Sometimes, the best activity is no activity at all. Allow yourself to simply be—sit by the river, listen to the sounds of nature, and let the landscape inspire you.

From Landscape to Print

Staying in such a breathtaking location, I was constantly reminded of why I capture landscapes through my lens. Norway’s dramatic scenery, with its ever-changing light and textures, is an endless source of inspiration. Some of the prints available on my website reflect the very essence of Juvet—the interplay of light and shadow in the forests, the serenity of the rivers, and the raw, untamed beauty of Norway. If you’re looking to bring a piece of this atmosphere into your home, explore my collection of Norway-inspired prints.
